Std. 8 English - Question Bank prepared by Std.8 A of St.Thomas HSS Erumely

Dear all,

My students of Std.8A and I came up with a novel idea of doing the revisions in a useful way. They, in groups, discussed and prepared a collection of diaries, letters, character sketches, editing exercises, phrasal verb collection, language exercises etc. While they were doing it I expressed my interest in publishing their question bank through English Blog. They became very happy and started doing it more sincerely.

They corrected each other's mistakes, polished and chiseled the answers and found time to get it typed using the computer lab.

Please note that this is a students' work and not complete in any manner as a study material. This is just an example of how students will become self motivated to do revisions if they have a specific motive before them.

An application to practice the Language Element questions from ORUKKAM-2017 by Pramod N. Moorthy

Dear all,

Our English club has designed an application to practice the Language Element questions from ORUKKAM-2017 which has been released recently by our education department.

This app lets the student to practice the questions in a user interface. There are twenty questions in it. Instead of writing in the paper, they have to type or select the answers in the GUI window.

The LEFT and RIGHT ARROW MARKS seen on the top of the windows take you to the next question and previous questions

Questions are based on phrasal verbs, prepositions, editing, reported speech etc.

If a student types or selects the wrong answer the app will indicate it with red color and give him an error message.

Try it and report if there are any mistakes....

If it is useful and error free then share it....

OS : Edubuntu [ =>14.04 ]
How to install :
Download the .deb file and install it with double click

Run from Application -> Education -> Orukkam

Sincerely
Pramod N. Moorthy

Std.8 English-U(III)-Ch(1) – The Light on the Hills – Notes by A.R.Manoj

Character sketch of the Girl

The girl in the story 'Light on the Hills' is a light of inspiration to her brother. She is very loving and encouraging. Her positive attitude motivates him very much. She is a lover of nature and beauty. Her words are sincere and effective. We felt her presence even after her death.

Letter of appreciation

Dear friend,

I'm Sooraj, studying in class 8. Yesterday I went to the town hall with my friends. I was so thrilled to watch your paintings. Your dedication and hardwork is felt in every piece of work. Among them that landscape named 'Light on the Hills' was very attractive. We all liked it very much. It really has the magic touch of a genius. It is hard to take eyes from it. Well done dear friend. We all are much inspired by your dedication and hardwork.

Heart felt wishes and waiting for your upcoming works.

First Term Exam 2017 - Std.10 English Answer Key by Javed K.T.

SSLC 2017 - ENGLISH - DCE Tvm - Adapted Resource Material for the Empowerment of Scholastically Backward Students

For the SSLC Exam 2013 the District Centre For English Thiruvananthapuram under Dept. of General Education, Govt. of Kerala had prepared an - Adapted Resource Material for the Empowerment of Scholastically Backward Students. That was one of the most downloaded study materials that year and the subsequent years till the syllabus changed.Recently when I went through it I could see that if the old syllabus related pages are removed the study material is still relevant. Thus I did the same and here is the final one.

You will really like it for sure.
